Sometimes, contemporary interiors can turn out to have such a drab vibe due to a singularly straight laced designs. Despite the flamboyant aspect of any contemporary fashion, small residential interiors always end up with a more restrained looking then intended. In these cases, there are a few techniques that can add a bit of brightness to the ambiance without pulling in too much external design interventions. These come in the form of colors, textures, artwork and accessories. Today, we will be looking at some great ways to brighten up your interiors in style.
- Focus on the ceiling
If the outward wall space needs to simple in your desired aesthetic, but does not give off the designated vibe, then you could always play focus on the ceiling. In the image below you can see how a little bit of design intervention on the ceiling has cultivated a rich look for the entire interior without bringing about drastic change to the plain walls. The bright, flowery design of the ceiling is flamboyant enough to add panache to the room but subtle enough that it won’t seem unnecessarily theatrical.
- A little bit of Technicolor
When an interior becomes too sophisticated, chic or austere, you can always use the Technicolor philosophy to add a bit of vibrancy to the scene. In the image below, the yellow and white table set adds a bit of retro coltishness to the ambiance that is a bit too reserved otherwise. It’s a useful technique that can be applied in conventional modern or contemporary interiors without too much external intervention.
- Primary colors
A monotonous interior can be charged up by strategically placing flamboyant accessories around the interior space. It is a uniquely perceptive intervention that needs to be carefully panned out. In the image below, it has been carried out by using loose thread, artwork, chairs and plastic fruits – an altogether unique formula.
- Single wall features
If your desired interior vibe needs to remain decidedly chic and sophisticated, then the interior below would be the perfect formula. As you can see, the white aspects far overwhelm the mauve ones, but the single, circular bar feature wall has enough visual power to create a delicate balance within the aesthetics without leeching away the sophisticated austerity of the room.
- A visual balance
When too many colors are stacked against a decidedly drab backdrop, it is important to create a harmony and rhythm within the contrasting bright colors. As in the interior below, the bright parts of the color scheme are so strategically located within the otherwise dreary ambiance that it is hard not to admire the placement. The blues, oranges and the browns have been very carefully balanced throughout the interior.
