6 interiors that are irresistibly indie

The most notable extension of the term ‘indie’ is independent. That may not make sense without context, but when we look at it in terms of interior designing – or any sort of designing at all – an indie formation means that it is independent of the mainstream constraints. An indie interior design breaks convention too present something that is a little bit different then what the global trends are looking out for these days. Today we will look at six of these interiors that seem very irresistibly indie.

  1. Captain America

Possibly one of the biggest franchises worldwide, Captain America has a humongous fan following. Chris evens has become a major household name, but still, the craze hasn’t ever been enough to spawn an interior theme of its own. The interior below defies the contemporary convention of sleek and sophisticated to integrate this pop culture phenomenon within the very design of its walls. It is such an indie move that fans all over the world will fall in love with this design.

  1. Superhero’s

Hulk may not be as beloved as the dear Captain America himself, but he does have quite a fan following of his own. He’s an unconventional superhero, so obviously integrating a hulk theme into your interiors can seem pretty juvenile. In the image below you will see how it can be done without much consequence, but in an exceptionally alluring way.

  1. Minimal

The main characteristic of any minimal design is that it be carried out in quite a monotonous scheme – which means that even a dash of color would seem inappropriate. The interior below defies this convention by adding a flair of yellow in its otherwise achromatic color palate. this splash of color is very atypical and exceptionally indie.

  1. Vertical Mullions

Perhaps one of the most overused tropes of regular interior design, vertical mullions are difficult to do in any unconventional way. So the designers of the interior below deserve double credit because the vertical room separation theme they’ve accomplished is decidedly distinctive and very stand out from the rest of the lot.

  1. Spearhead Movement

This interior has a very distinctly unique vibe that may be hard to pin down at first glance. It may be the eclectic mix of incredibly contemporary lighting with a fix of nice material application or it may be the beautiful but organic ceiling effect. The most indie quality of this interior is its use of double height with the beams, which create a caged but not confining effect.

  1. Broad Minded

Airport themes homes are atypical, even by contemporary standards, so this one is a one in a thousand gem. The color palate and material application go hand in hand with that travel ‘nostalgia’ aspect while the lighting perfectly captures that standard airport vibe.
