80’s Vibe With A Modern Flair

The 80s is the transitional decade between pop-art and the semi-neutral era of the 90s. Most of the experimentation which were carried out during that era was extremely unique.  The 80s is considered the last decade that embraced the distinct creativity that came in the genre of interior design. It was not rigid, but free flowing with ideas that were unconventional and vintage.

Today, we’ll be dedicating an ode to the 80s by looking at a home whose interior has been inspired by the decade.

Open, spacious and multi-purpose kitchens were “the” invention of the decade. They were chic, but never sleek. So this particular kitchen is a special treat for all those who love the 80s. Its wide, has a vintage dining nook, and features a retro aesthetic that used to be quite the rage back in the day. Even with the touches of modernism, this kitchen is definitely an ode to the 80s.

The pastel craze was an actual thing back in the 80s. Not only were entire interior designs based on some funky, pastel color palates, but it literally became a phenomenon. This interior manages to capture the pastel nostalgia perfectly. The pink was a specific color that became a retro icon of the decade, and the way it has been used in the wallpaper of this home is exceptionally phenomenal.

There is a lot of innovation that was being carried out in the furniture design world in that latter half of the twentieth century. Designers were experimenting with new materials and shapes, which is where the concept of biomorphic furniture actually came from. It consisted of compact, playful designs that were very unique and times – so much so, that they are definitely admired even to this date.

You can use such tiles to evoke a 80s vibe in your home. Furthermore, you can spruce up the vanity like the one in this image to bring out the coltish, experimental side of the 80s.
