Eight Awesome Home Offices That Make You Want To Work From Home

Eight Awesome Home Offices That Make You Want To Work From Home

Let’s face it: most of us don’t like working.  Even those who enjoy their jobs feel the occasional bout of stress and anxiety, or frustration over long commutes and endless traffic.  Then there are those lucky few who have the pleasure of working from home: the so-called telecommuters.

Just imagine getting up ten or fifteen minutes before the start of your work day, not even bothering to shave, shower, or dress properly (not that we encourage it).

While not everyone is so fortunate, those who are may not be taking advantage of it.  Instead of a nice home office, they’re earning money in a disorganized eyesore with books and files thrown about messily.  But you could always choose another path: a home office that’s neat, colourful, unique, full of life and art and beauty, something that makes hours of sitting alone in a room worthwhile (or at least bearable).  In short, a work space that combines efficiency and functionality with aesthetics.

What follows are 8 examples of the ideal home offices.

1) Extraordinary Views

Every office deserves a good view.  And while you may not be working from the top floor of an executive building, this home office with incredibly broad windows is the next best thing.  Plus, all that natural light is a great way to feel invigorated and never boxed in.

2) Minimizing Distractions

This home office minimizes distractions by reducing the amount of extraneous decor.  In also uses a dark colour palette and prevents excess light from entering to reduce unwelcome stimuli.  However, a few personal touches like those R2D2 toys and a violin keep it from being overly dull.

3) Cool Items

Sometimes all you need are a few clever touches to make your work space feel more personal.  This example uses two samurai swords to achieve that effect, while it also goes for an understated look with its abundant use of grays and apparent lack of decoration.

4) Sleep or Work?

While you probably don’t want to wake up and jump right into work, this bedroom/office combo offers the chance to take an occasional nap during slow periods.  The generous use of wood also lends it a warm and organic touch.

5) Stark Colours

This office means business.  The fact that the chair is facing a blank wall shows focus rather than play, while the use of sober colours reinforces this work-first ethic.

However, the glass enclosure to our right does afford a chance to look around and feel less confined.

6) Bright & Bold

Unlike our previous office this one is far less serious and a lot more playful.  We can see proof of this by the bright lighting, large windows, emphasis on organic materials, numerous decor touches such as toys, picture frames, wall-mounted art, and a couch on which to relax.

It’s a perfect mix of fun and business.

7) Sleek & Stylish

The clean, polished look of this work station combined with the interesting geometry of the cabinets results in a rather posh and sophisticated environment.

Everything about this office exudes intelligence and efficiency.

8) Picture Perfect

Can it get any more classic than this example?  Probably not.  This looks like the office of some major corporation, but it is in fact just an apartment.

Everything from the chair and desk right down to the flowers gives us the impression of a professional work space, which is ideal for anyone who wants to do some serious business at home.  The emphasis on wood and light colours inspires feelings of peace, which helps balance out the more formal and authoritative elements of this room.

There we have it: eight amazing offices that cater to every possible need.  From strict and formal to fun and frivolous, these examples demonstrate the functional and aesthetic potential of working from home.
