Flower Power – The Beautiful and the Fickle
Out of all thematic concepts using floral is categorized as particularly girly. Well that does not always have to be the case. The floral theme is, like most design styles, a sum of its whole. If you use each individual parts in the right way, you end up with something that is not only better, but also brighter. There are multiple ways to make use of the thematic concept of floral integration in design formations. Some of them can be literal, some objective and some metaphorical. The literal aspect is a bit tricky but we’ll get to that later. To dislodge the concept that anything floral is girly, let us take a look at a few designs that embrace the idea of floral without going overboard.
A little brighter
The integration of floral concept in this interior design is by physical application and a complementary color scheme. The bed spread is the integral part – without it, the entire theme can fall apart. Its pink scheme complements the upholstery of the bench at its side and together, they create an interior that is both chic and sophisticated. If you take away the pink from the bedspread however, the theme could fall apart, so this is also a temporary application that is hard to maintain.
A little braver
In this specific interior, the thematic concept of floral design is a bit more abstract and harder to pinpoint. It is applied through careful and meticulous selection of the lighting fixture. The chandelier is a modern contemporary design that is beautiful and alluring while at the same time being pragmatic. Its applied use is much more aesthetically pleasing and permanent.
A little abstract
This one does not necessarily use physical application of the floral theme itself, but instead uses the idea of ‘girly’ to its advantage. The color scheme is the basic figurative metaphysical aspect of this floral interior design. The bright pink along with the alluring contrast sets it apart from most abstract applications of this concept.
A little bolder
This is a literal embodiment of the floral theme in a concept. A vase full of flowers is not only classy it is also complementary. It can uplift the entire ambiance of the space that it occupies. When you use this concept you have to be careful with your choices – fresh flowers is preferable but hard to maintain, so go for a realistic plastic articulation instead.
A little stylistic
This is a contemporary application of a floral theme. The actual flower patterns are done in a more contemporary fashion, and the thematic articulation is certainly outdone. It is both literal and figurative as well as digital – a perfectly beautiful contradiction.
