Here’s How You Glamorize Minimalism

Glamorizing an aesthetic as neat and clean as minimalism is no small feat. You have to pull out all the stops in your creativity and think outside the box. Experimenting with different design elements and materials is a good way to start. If you’re interested in a glamorous minimalistic outlook, then here are 5 ways you can use to achieve such visuals:

1. Using materials to your advantage

The materials that you use in your minimalistic home interiors are an excellent canvas to articulate a glamorous look. For example, the simple white painted backdrop can be complemented with a simple glossy white laminated media wall, and the contrast in the finish of both materials can evoke a totally glamorous look.

2. Glam use of lighting

Glamorous lighting is an excellent way to glamorize your minimalistic spaces. This technique works especially well when you’re working with recessed lighting that is buried into the sides of furniture. The resulting halo makes the requisite simplicity of a minimal aesthetic especially appealing.

3. Sticking to a single colour scheme

Sticking to a single colour scheme is a great way to make your minimal interiors feel glam. It’s also best that you avoid all natural textures such as wood and stone. Instead stick to plain surfaces that have a very clean and purist outlook. You can introduce a few accents of chrome or stainless steel in the mix, but the overall look has to be homogenous as possible to emulate the glam.

4. If all else fails: mirrors

One of the most fool-proof ways to make your minimalistic home feel as glamorous as possible is by using reflective surfaces; especially tinted mirrors. However, do note that the use of such accessories needs to be very strategic. For example, small decorative mirrors are a huge ‘no.’ Instead, you can opt for feature-length cladding on either a statement wall or even your wardrobe/shelf door leaves.

5. Stick to the neutrals

The minimalistic aesthetic is renowned for its simplicity and its extensive use of the neutral palette. You have to stick with these parameters even when you’re trying to break into the glam side. You must also note that sticking to the lightest side of the neutral colour scheme is the best way to tap into your space’s glam side.
