The Best Way To Use Colours In Monochrome Themes

Monochromatic interior designs work with singe-toned colors by nature, but that doesn’t always have to be the case. In fact, you can reinvent this entire aesthetic by introducing accent colors in the monochrome theme – not too much; just enough to make a statement of sorts. Further, we’ve listed down the ways you can do that:

1. The main furniture

You can add beautiful contrast in your monochrome home interiors by making the main furniture set as colorful as possible. This doesn’t mean that you introduce a ton of different hues for the sake of being statement-worthy. However, a combination of one or two bright tones in your sofa upholstery or coffee table set-up can be effective.

2. Metal accented pendants

Metal accents are always a welcome addition in single-toned spaces, and they can be even more impactful when you want to add contrast to your bland, monochrome theme. You can introduce them in a lot of formats. They can be brought on in the form of pendent lights, statement accessories, and other forms of décor.

3. A single accent chair

Sometimes, all you need is a single brightly colored furniture piece to make all the difference in your spaces. So, if you’re working with a monochrome theme that needs a little sprucing up, you can simply set up a colorful accent chair in the corner to add contrast. While the backdrop and the surroundings are done in various shades of the same color, the accent chair can feel like a breath of fresh air.

4. An entire alcove

If you feel like a single accent chair won’t be enough to break the monotony of your monochrome theme, then you can set up an entire alcove with colorful accent furniture to make the difference. This nook can consist of chairs, puffies, area rugs, and end tables in colors and finishes that complement yet contrast the backdrop.

5. Making a texture statement

Colorful furniture in a monochrome theme is all well and good, but none of it matters if your couches or chairs don’t stand out at all. This is where texture diversity comes in. You can make all the difference by choosing upholstery in fabrics that are unique and make a statement of their own.
