Designing a game room is not that easy as it seems because it is a place where the entire family can spend time. It is a place for you, your family and your friends which means it has to be designed properly if you want to fit more people inside. The main problem with game rooms is that people want too many things inside. That can be a challenge for someone who has to design it. So, to help you design your game room in the best possible way I have listed few things you have to reconsider and keep in mind.
1. Measure the room
First and the most important tip is to measure the room. You can stand in it and talk about the things you would love to have inside, but don’t buy anything until you have measured the room. If you do, it can happen that you buy too much furniture or the size of it is too large for you to put inside your room. You can avoid all that by measuring the room.
2. Divide the room
The game room is a room for the entire family and that means it should have something for every family member. After you measure the room, try to divide the room into themes. For example, make a game table space, video games/cinema space, and space where you can sit and hang out with your friends. If you have one entire floor (it is popular to use the basement for game rooms) it will be much easier for you to divide the room and then you can have everything you want inside. If you don’t have a big room, make sure that there is something for everyone.
3. Use a proper lighting system
This part is actually pretty tricky because not every part of a game room should have the same lighting. For example, if you decided to use a part of the room for video games/cinema, you will have pick few smaller lights because that space mustn’t be too bright. Have you ever played a game with a reflection of the lamp on the screen? Very annoying. On the other hand, for game tables like a foosball table, you have to have good light or you will miss shorts. The best position for a lamp is right above the table so you can see everything that is happening on the field. Those two situations are opposite which means that you can install most of the light near the game table which leaves the video game/cinema space in dark.
4. Don’t forget about the decoration
The decoration is the thing which gives your room charm. Use decoration but not overdo it or it won’t look great. Pictures, posters and some great lamps on the wall is what makes a game room look amazing. You can fill the walls with favourite sports team, movie hero or favourite band that is completely up to you and your family to decide.
