Unlikely Contrasting Interior Design Color Schemes

Contrast is one of the most important things to consider when you’re selecting the theme for your dream interior design. A good, balanced aesthetic is all you need in order to make your space truly impactful. Even the materials have to follow a specific color scheme in order to make the space seem interesting. So whatever colors you choose, they have to be complementary to each other.

It can be a challenging task to match two contradicting yet complementary colors. So today, we’ll be looking at 5 unlikely contrasting interior design color schemes for your inspiration.

White and chocolate brown make for a high contrast color scheme. While one of them is on the extremely dark end of the spectrum, the other is on the highly lighter one. The two are completely opposite in temperature and texture, but they do make a truly eye-catching combination.

2. Dull grey and white

Dull grey is one of those colors that can look extremely bland if paired with the wrong color. If you want to use it, then the contrasting color has to be very light. White is a pretty good combination set for this color scheme. It has the ability to balance out the dullness of the grey while simultaneously infusing the setting with a nice contrasting playfulness.

3. Blue and grey

Blue and grey are two of the most unlikely colors to be paired with each other. But if you like this combination and want to proceed, then note that the blue has to be electrifying – it has to balance the dullness of the grey by being especially vivid. So the hue of blue has to be carefully chosen. At the same time, you can harmonize material surfaces to complement the two color schemes as well.

4. Sky blue and frost white

Many times, you need to get nitpicky with your color palate. Sometimes; light pink is actually ‘salmon’ and maroon is actually ‘blood red.’ These distinctions can make a whole lot of difference when you’re trying to create a harmonized setting. So the combination of sky blue and frost white is actually pretty charming. This is mostly because the colors are extremely specified. If you select a wrong tint or hue, your space can seem pretty weird.

5. Red and slate

If you want to go high-contrast on a completely different end of the spectrum, then red and slate grey are a pretty awesome choice. Both colors come from the ‘dark’ side of the spectrum, and offer a great contrasting pitch that varies in both temperature as well as contrast. So if you’re looking for something different yet sophisticated, this is it.
